Do I really need a wedding Planner/Coordinator?

Do You Really Need a Wedding Planner or an on the day coordinator? (An Honest Answer)

This is probably one of the most common questions I get—and I get it.

When you first start planning your wedding, it can feel like something you should be able to do yourself. You’ve got Pinterest, spreadsheets, group chats… how hard can it be, right?

And honestly? You can plan your own wedding.

But the real question isn’t can you… it’s do you actually want to?

Because what people don’t always realise is that planning a wedding isn’t just about choosing flowers and trying on dresses. It’s timelines, logistics, supplier management, emails (so many emails), problem-solving, and making about 500 decisions you didn’t even know you’d have to make.

And that’s before the actual wedding day even begins.

So… what does a wedding planner actually do?

In simple terms—we take everything that feels overwhelming, time-consuming or stressful, and handle it for you.

That can look like:

  • Keeping your whole day running on time

  • Managing suppliers (and chasing when needed 👀)

  • Fixing problems before you even know they exist

  • Being the go-to person for literally everyone

  • Making sure you can actually enjoy your day

It’s not just about organisation—it’s about creating a calm, seamless experience from start to finish.

“But my venue has a coordinator…”

This is where a lot of couples get confused.

Venue coordinators are amazing—but they work for the venue. Their focus is on making sure everything runs smoothly from the venue’s side.

A wedding planner (or on-the-day coordinator) is there for you.

We’re thinking about the full picture—your timeline, your suppliers, your vision, your experience. We’re the ones making sure your florist knows where to go, your photographer is in the right place at the right time, and that everything comes together exactly how you imagined.

The part no one sees

A big part of my job happens quietly in the background.

It’s the last-minute changes. The suppliers running late. The small things that could turn into big problems—but don’t, because someone is there to handle them.

Like being let down by a supplier… and finding a solution that ends up being even better (true story).

Or managing the timeline so you’re not being pulled in five different directions.

Or simply noticing when you need a minute, and making space for you to breathe.

So… do you need one?

No—not everyone has a wedding planner or a coordinator.

But if you:

  • Don’t want to feel stressed or overwhelmed

  • Want your day to flow effortlessly

  • Want someone there who knows what they’re doing

  • Want to actually be present and enjoy it

Then having a wedding planner or a on the day coordinator makes a huge difference.

The biggest thing I always say to couples…

You only get this day once.

You don’t want to spend it answering questions, checking timelines, or worrying about what’s happening next.

You want to be with your people. Laughing, celebrating, soaking it all in.

And that’s exactly what I’m there for.

To make sure everything runs as it should—so you don’t have to think about any of it.
